Twinkle, twinkle little star who will be the strictly winning dancing star!
It’s this time of year again with the nights getting darker, our curtains are getting closed and your settling cozy round the fire watching the celebrities all performing the waltz, salsa and tango. Lots to learn and remember but what about those feet!!
Lulu has called on help from TV hypnotist Derren Brown to improve her memory for those complicated routines and a little help with the pre –show nerves. Even Celebrities can have that lack of confidence.
The Circle of Excellence technique will help you summon up the confidence to perform a particular skill. You can use it if you have a fear of public speaking, if you want to boost your confidence to play your best shot in that round of golf or many other instances.
First, think of the situation where you are going to perform and imagine your own magic circle on the ground in front of you. Make it a generous circle of about three feet in diameter. These step-by-step instructions take you in and out of your magic circle, telling you what to do at each stage, with the help of a partner.
CIRCLE Visualise a circle in front of you.
OUT Identify your best state to perform your skill.
Tell your partner what that state is.
Your partner says: “Remember a time when you were xxxxxxxxxx” (use their words) … get back to it strongly … see what you saw then, hear what you heard, feel what you felt.
IN Step into the circle and re-live that experience (make it vivid, be there in it). Feel what your hands are doing and hold or anchor that state with a hand movement. Some people press their thumb and forefinger together.
OUT Step out of the circle and break state and repeat the exercise with a second experience of your best state.
In order to prepare for the future event, your partner says: “think of a time when this state will be useful”.
IN With your hand in the anchored position, you move into the circle, and your partner asks you to see, hear, and feel how it can be now for you.
OUT Relax … you’ve got it!
