I have been interested in NLP since I first heard about it around 4 years ago during “Train the trainer”. I was interested to learn that the kinds of words that we choose can either enhance interactions with others or alienate them. The book I read helped a little but I was left with only a very basic knowledge. The time I spent with Audrey at her CEED presentation changed all of that for me. She made the material come alive, and used active questioning to help me explore my own understanding. I can now pick up of the speech modes of other people and use the correct model to create much better communication. I naturally think in pictures but I can easily switch to the other modes – the auditory (hearing) or kinaesthetic (feeling ) modes. My real challenge is the auditory digital mode and Audrey has helped me immensely by just helping me understand that challenge. In the past I could not understand how communicating with some people could be so difficult for me. I now understand how poor the message must have been for some of my listeners and am a much better trainer as a result. I try to have all the models running in my training to spark interest and engagement, and am inspired myself to learn more.
